Ilana Glazer of Broad City
Petition to replace Lena Dunham with Ilana Glazer as the “it girl” feminist millenial comedianREALLY THOUGH
I don’t even watch Girls but I’ve read enough about it to know that Broad City is FAR superior and SHOULD BE the voice of our generation, not girls. Here is why:
- Ilana Glazer is queer
- Ilana Glazer’s character is queer
- Every episode of Broad City has more than one queer character
- Some of these queer characters are queer people of color
- ILANA’S VERSION OF NEW YORK ISN’T WHITE AS SNOW
- Passes the Bechdel test every episode multiple times over
- Funny as SHIT and also isn’t mean but can be crass and stuff
- Literally at one point Ilana’s character advocates for a future where everyone is “caramel and queer”
- All the female characters are really interesting and different
- Hannibal Buress is on it. You may know him as one of tumblr’s favorite comedians.
- Hannibal Buress’s character is one of the best, kindest guy characters on tv oh my god
- There’s a whole episode surrounding Ilana dating a bisexual guy and her telling him how awesome he and his sexuality is like holy shit
- THE UST BETWEEN ABBI AND ILANA IS FUCKING INCREDIBLE
- Super down to earth because it started as a web series until Amy Pohler picked it up
In conclusion I don’t normally pit shows against each other but please watch Broad City instead of Girls. Seriously, love yourself.
